What is Protégé?
Protégé is platform that allows anyone in the world to apply to the top experts in every field. Our mission to make access to dream career opportunities more meritocratic.
How do I sign up and create an account?
Click the navigation circle in the top right of your page. From there, select "Login" to create an account.
Does Protégé have an iPhone or Android app?
No. Stay tuned for the iPhone and Android app release...
How do I submit my application?
There are two ways to submit. You can either (a) pay the stated application fee or (b) submit for free by sharing your video and earning the stated number of upvotes.
Can I submit more than one application?
Yes, you can apply multiple times to the same expert if you choose.
What should I submit?
It depends on the expert. In music, for instance, some experts accept only covers, some only originals, and some accept both. Reference the "What to send" section at the top of every expert's page for more details.
What file formats are accepted?
We just support .mp4 and .mov video files at the moment, although we are working on allowing .mp3 and .wav files.
How long can my video submission be?
Your video can be up to 60 seconds long. The first 15 seconds are the most important!
Can I share my submission video on my socials?
Yes! We’d encourage you to share your Protege journey and show your followers you are serious about pursuing your craft.
Who owns the submission video?
You own the rights to your submission video. We may display your video on our website and in our marketing materials. Please reference our terms of service for more details.
Can I link creator accounts (Spotify, Soundcloud, Youtube, etc.)?
Within your student profile, you can add links to creator accounts, write a bio, and upload a cover photo.
When will feedback videos be sent to applicants?
Usually within 5-7 days, although it may take longer. Your application goes straight to the expert's mobile app where they watch and review each submission. They will leave all of their feedback videos before the application period or contest period ends.
Will I receive feedback on my submission video?
It depends on the expert. Reference the "What you receive" section at the top of every expert's page for more details. If an expert has committed to providing feedback videos on every submission, their landing page will read "For all applicants" in this section.
Can I share the feedback I receive from the expert?
Feedback videos are shareable! You can download them directly from your profile page or contact our content lead ([email protected]) to create a custom edit for you.
Can I contact the expert I applied to?
No. To respect the privacy of the expert's on the Protégé platform, we have restricted follow-on or direct messages to experts.
How do I know if I've been selected as an expert's protégé or finalist?
Protégé will notify you via email when you've been selected as a protégé or a finalist by the expert you applied to.
What happens after I've been selected as an expert's protégé?
You will receive an email from Protégé detailing next steps and be given access to a communication forum with other protégés.
Do I have to pay extra for the Protégé experience?
No. The application price is the only payment.
How is the application price determined?
The price depends on the expert and the opportunity.
Which payment methods can I use for application fee?
We accept payment via credit or debit card. If you are having issues with paying, send us a chat message or email at [email protected]!
Can I apply for free?
Yes! You can submit for free using our "scholarship" feature, where you crowdsource "upvotes" on your audition video to earn a free submission.
Can I request a refund?
For some competitions. For competitions in which feedback videos are guaranteed, you are entitled to a refund if you do not receive a feedback video in a timely manner. Contact [email protected] to request a refund. The application fee is not refundable if you apply to a competition where only selected finalists receive feedback videos. For more details, reference the Official Rules for each contest.
Why do I have to upload a demo video to complete my scholarship referral account?
Protégé referral accounts are purposely reserved for musicians. Uploading a demo is a simple way for us verify this for all protege community members.
